What makes an act right or wrong?

What is it about individuals that makes them morally good or bad?

How can we come to correct conclusions about the morality of what we ought to do and what sorts of persons we ought to be


This lecture introduces the general aims of moral theory .


The readings attached for this lecture aim to introduce students to the construction of arguments that attempt to provide systematic answers to very general moral questions.


The first reading is by Alan Goldman entitled, "Plain Sex"

The second reading is by  Ann Garry etntiled, "Pornography and Respect for Women"


This is required reading and students must read these two articles in order to be prepared to answer exam questions.
